Your Guide to Baltimore’s Authentic Christmas Village Market
Baltimore’s Christmas Village returns to West Shore Park with a preview weekend starting Saturday, November 23rd.
As a part of the Holiday District in the Inner Harbor, Baltimore’s Christmas Village is the traditional indoor and outdoor authentic German Christmas Market that features crafts, authentic German cuisine, and a well curated Christmas-atmosphere.
The market will open with regular hours after preview weekend, starting Thanksgiving day running through Christmas Eve.
Boasting an exciting surprise centerpiece, the Christmas Village has also expanded and improved the layout of the market to include an open floor plan for the stage, additional space for the Beer Garden, a new kid’s corner, and additional shopping huts for new and returning vendors.
Along with the new centerpiece, returning this year to the market is the 65-foot Christmas Village Ferris Wheel, an expanded selection of mulled wine, even more food options, new artists and vendors, and updated theme weekends.
Speaking of the mulled wine — authentically known as Gluvine (Glühwein) — the market will provide its largest wine selection in its history featuring traditional red, cherry, and blueberry flavors along with two new kinds of white Glühwein, and a non-alcoholic Kinder Punsch. Other traditional European food, sweets, and drinks will include bacon on a stick, Raclette Cheese, German Schnitzel, Belgian Fries, and Hofbräu Beer.
Filling the shopping huts will be over 50 local and international merchants including various crafts, holiday decorations, jewelry, toys, artwork, and more. Of all the new vendors, two to keep an eye out for are Pal’s Socks who will showcase fun mismatched socks for social change, and Cynful Bill — who will be providing alcohol-infused desserts.
This year the market will also feature a kids corner, run by the Christmas Village partners The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland that will have a craft table, and a photo booth including Santa Claus who will also be making his annual return visit to the Harbor.
The preview weekend will include the 7th annual tree lighting to kick off winter festivities during the Grand Opening Ceremony and will also feature the original German Christkind (a traditional giver of gifts at Christmas time) from Nuremberg, Germany.
Christmas Village will have new weekday events including Hofbräu Beer Tastings on Fridays, Wine Tastings on Wednesdays, a HoHo Happy Hour, and more.
Whether you’re downtown to check out Waterfront Partnership’s now open Ice Rink, or just passing through the Inner Harbor Promenade, this year’s Christmas Village will have something to please anyone who loves the holiday season.
